Throughout his six months of service across two shops, SPC J. Mitchell has demonstrated an exceptional level of tact, duty, initiative, respect, and integrity. Despite his comparatively short time in the unit, he has consistently performed at a level well beyond that expected of his peers. Since joining RRO as a recruiter in April, SPC J. Mitchell has consistently demonstrated an exceptional level of dedication, initiative, and commitment to the unit. During his initial months in RRO, SPC J. Mitchell actively sought mentorship and training from experienced members, using their guidance to improve his own performance and develop his knowledge of the shop. Through his continued growth, he has transitioned from being mentored to becoming a mentor himself, assisting new recruiters with questions, conducting mock NSOs to reduce stress and improve confidence, and ensuring new members are properly prepared. SPC J. Mitchell routinely takes the initiative to answer tickets regardless of the time or day, directly contributing to the successful integration of new members into the shop. He has also demonstrated notable maturity by conducting one-on-one sessions with S-1 leadership to continue his growth as a recruiter. While serving in S-1, SPC J. Mitchell completed 51 NSOs over the course of several months, exceeding the shop's established standards and demonstrating an unwavering commitment to mission accomplishment. Similarly, SPC J. Mitchell joined S-3 FIG in April and has displayed the same exceptional dedication and initiative. He has repeatedly stepped forward to conduct OSUTs when the shop was short-handed, including occasions when he had already been awake for more than 24 hours. His willingness to place mission requirements above personal convenience has made him a dependable and valuable member of S-3. SPC J. Mitchell has also distinguished himself as a top-performing member of the shop by exceeding his required attendance by 150 percent. More importantly, he consistently applies the knowledge and experience gained through S-3 training to benefit his squad and those around him, further multiplying his impact beyond his assigned responsibilities. His willingness to seek improvement, accept mentorship, mentor others, and consistently place the needs of the unit before his own demonstrates a level of maturity rarely seen at his level of service. SPC J. Mitchell's sustained superior performance, unwavering commitment, and significant contributions to both RRO and S-3 FIG reflect great credit upon himself and the unit. His exceptional service and dedication warrant recognition with the Meritorious Service Medal.

During Shaping Operation 4 of Operation Wet Feet, SPC J. Mitchell displayed sustained initiative in the assault on a well-defended enemy Mortar Pit that had been shelling the platoon throughout the operation. When the squad was pinned down and a grenade incapacitated most of the element, including his Squad Leader, Mitchell moved the wounded to the CCP on his own initiative. Rather than wait for reinforcement, he and CPL Siebens pushed toward the pit; when Siebens was struck by machine gun fire at an intersection, Mitchell dragged him to safety, moved up on Platoon net, reported the casualty, and continued the advance. Closing on the objective alone, Mitchell cleared the position with grenades, eliminating the Gun and Mortar crew and enemies attempting to flee, and held it until the squad recovered. His choice to repeatedly press the fight on his own, absorbing the loss of his Team Leader without losing momentum and clearing a hardened position single-handedly silenced a threat that had endangered the platoon multiple times across the operation, and reflects great credit on himself and his unit.
