For valorous achievement while serving as a Combat Life Saver with 1st Squad, 2nd Platoon, in support of 3rd Squad, 1st Platoon during combat operations on 13 July 2025. When the casualty collection point (CCP) for Spartan’s element became overwhelmed and lacked senior medical supervision, Specialist Herez swiftly took charge of the scene. Demonstrating exceptional composure and initiative under fire, he triaged and stabilized multiple wounded personnel, directly saving numerous lives. His decisive leadership ensured the CCP remained operational until the arrival of the senior medic, at which point he executed a professional and orderly handover to Sergeant Schneider. Because of SPC Herez’s actions, 3rd Squad was able to quickly return to the fight and reestablish a support by fire position critical to 1st Platoon’s continued advance toward the U.S. Embassy. This allowed the platoon to maintain momentum, breach enemy defenses, and ultimately complete the successful extraction of embassy personnel. Specialist Herez’s courageous and tactically significant actions directly contributed to the mission’s success and reflect great credit upon himself, Alpha Company, the 1st Battalion, and the United States Army.

While the section came under sudden sniper fire, SPC M.Herez identified and engaged the threat with decisive action. The enemy was only able to fire three rounds before SPC Herez neutralized the sniper with a single, accurate shot. This rapid response ensured the safety of the unit and demonstrated his high level of marksmanship and composure under pressure. SPC Herez's actions reflect great credit upon himself, the unit, and the United States Army.

For meritorious service as a cavalry scout with Alpha Company, 2nd Platoon, 1st Squad, during Mission Granite on 18 May 2025 in support of Operation Egyptian Collapse. While clearing a hostile insurgent compound and with the squad leader and medic engaged in casualty care, SPC Herez skillfully provided suppressive fire for his teammates. His precise grenade placement and steadfast assistance enabled the successful neutralization of multiple enemy strong points and facilitated the rapid seizure of a large insurgent cache of weapons and supplies. His dedication to duty and proficiency under fire reflect great credit upon himself, the 3rd Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
