During Mission Spider in Operation Egyptian Collapse, SPC B.Bishop in the temporary Squad Leader position in the stead of SGT A.Bills’ Leave, displayed acts of heroism and courage in the face of a surprise enemy attack on the FOB. Throughout the many waves of the enemy armour platoon, and the many waves of casualties at the front line, SPC B.Bishop never wavered. During the first wave, Third Squad Spartans suffered a mass casualty situation from a flanking enemy force while low on AP rounds in the MGS, destroying the MGS and injuring its crew, and 4 of alpha team members. While sustaining minor injuries, SPC B.Bishop collected the injured soldiers while the enemy forces attempted to break the line, and brought them to a safe temporary CCP location behind Second Squad Ghosts defensive line. During the second wave, and another mass casualty situation of approximately 6 injured soldiers from Second and Third Squads, and 2 members of platoon staff, along with another destroyed MGS, SPC B.Bishop held the front line from sporadic enemy infantry and IFV attacks alongside the remaining uninjured soldiers from Second Squad. During the third wave, and another flank from enemy infantry, SPC B.Bishop both held the line, eliminating approximately 1 squad of enemy infantry, and successfully extracted approximately 4 injured soldiers from both second and third squads to the final regroup point for medical assistance. Never once did SPC B.Bishop hesitate to stay at or return to the front line, nor leave behind a fellow soldier.

For exceptionally valorous actions while engaged in direct combat with enemy forces during operations at Combat Outpost Guardian. While attached to 3rd Squad, 1st Platoon, Specialist Brett Bishop displayed conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity under fire. Recognizing the need to support 2nd Squad during an active engagement, he advanced alone into the contested objective after other team members were engaged or ineffective, eliminating four enemy combatants in the field during the maneuver. Upon securing the compound alongside friendly forces, Specialist Bishop identified and independently reported the approach of an enemy armored column—including a main battle tank and multiple BTRs—advancing from the southeastern flank, despite no prior call made to higher command. Shortly after, he detected enemy infantry advancing on the northern flank and immediately repositioned to secure the area. When the structure occupied by elements of 2nd and 3rd Squad sustained a direct hit from an enemy mortar, resulting in a mass casualty event, Specialist Bishop sustained multiple injuries—briefly losing consciousness—yet remained in the fight. Despite being wounded, he held the northern perimeter alone, engaging and neutralizing multiple waves of enemy infantry until the arrival of 2nd Platoon reinforcements. Only after ensuring the medical stabilization of fellow soldiers did he seek treatment for personal wounds. Specialist Bishop’s selfless actions, decisive leadership, and extraordinary heroism under fire reflect great credit upon himself, the 3rd Infantry Division, and the United States Army.

During the month of July after a LandNav had concluded he recognized while the Student knew how to LandNav they did struggle with things. Bishop asked his Shop leader to practice with the student so they could hone their skills. Bishop went above and beyond his duty by asking to do extra one on one time not only with a student, but also members of his squad. This motivation is not only helpful to S3, but his squad, and the unit as a whole as well. For these reasons SPC B.Bishop is getting the JSAM.
