For exceptionally meritorious achievement while serving as a CH-47F Chinook Crew Chief, during Mission Troy, and during combat operations near the City of Masjid Muallem. During the aerial recovery of a disabled combat vehicle under heavy and sustained enemy fire, Warrant Officer Candidate Martin and Private Winchester displayed unwavering courage, technical proficiency, and steadfast composure. Their expertise on the management of aircraft systems and vigilant security scanning directly contributed to the safe execution of the high-risk mission. WOC Martin’s and PVT Winchester’s actions ensured the protection of aircrew and ground personnel, and their dedication to duty in the face of enemy engagement reflects great credit upon themselves, 3rd Combat Aviation Detachment, and the 3rd Infantry Division.
