    Operation Wet Feet

    —————————————————————————————————————————————

This campaign is purely fictional, only taking some parts from reality to make a more interesting way to experience the gameplay of ArmA Reforger.

Nations depicted within the campaign are not true to life; losses or wins do not equal reality.

    Backstory:

Russia's participation in the REDACTED conflict and its subsequent ceasefire with REDACTED has led to Russia being forced to pay for reparations to REDACTED and NATO allies. This intern has lost the current Russian President, Dimitry Makolov, massive amounts of public support. In an attempt to put Russia back onto the world stage as a “superpower,” the Russian president and Defense Minister Ivan Kartoshka have decided to fund an insurgency force within the nation of Georgia called the “Georgian Freedom Army.” Currently, these insurgents are very low-funded; however, Russia is actively and publicly funding them. NATO and the UN believe that a Russian invasion, such as the invasion in 2008, which took a large portion of the Georgian nation, is inevitable. During a press interview, Russian President Dimitry Makolov stated, “Due to the unfair treatment of the ethnic Russian people within the Georgian nation, we feel obligated to support our fellow countrymen, no matter if they’re within or outside our great nation. We fully support what the Georgian Revolutionary Army stands for, and we’re actively supporting their campaign. We will take back what is ours.”

NATO and the UN both equally called out Russia’s hypocrisy with that statement; however, they also stated, “The statement made by the Russian president is not only a clear violation of international law but also a declaration of war to the free nation of Georgia, which has become a valuable asset within NATO. NATO will not sit by idly and watch like we did last time; this time, NATO will show a full presence in the region to deter any hostile intentions made directly by the Russian state. We, as NATO, warn Russia not to invoke a NATO response under Article 5”.

The US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, has stated during a press interview, “The latest statement made by the Russian President is a clear violation of the independence of a free nation. In recent times, the nation of Georgia has become a valuable asset and friend in the Caucasus region. We’re looking at defending our friends in that region by any means necessary. In what way we do that, only time will tell; we’re not going to sit idly and watch Russia try yet again what they tried in the past.”.

Georgian civilians are currently worried about yet another tragic and useless bloodshed within their nation. The majority of the civilian populace is worried about crimes Russia has committed in the past and worries about a repeat of the same crimes.

At this time, it is unclear what Russia’s true intentions are with Georgia. Independent journalists suspect that Russia wants to increase its influence over the Black Sea, while some others suspect that Russia is after Georgia's oil reserves.

    Current Day:

The US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, has stated in a recent press interview, “Due to the urgency of the matter with Georgia and Russia, we have decided to start joint naval exercises with Turkey, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France within Georgian waters. As of right now, we have sent the carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, including the rest of Carrier Strike Group 12. This is not only a show of force but also a long-overdue training exercise within the Black Sea.”

With GSG-12 being deployed to Georgian waters, the US Army has also decided to send units into the region. With the first American troops being from the 3rd Infantry Division, having landed on the Island of Evaron, Kulgayev, and so on.

These troops, however, are not there for a joint military exercise but rather to actively deter Russian involvement in the nation. The US Army has stated, “These troops within Georgia are there for a few reasons. Russia’s threats are one of them. However, the primary reason stands firm: humanitarian aid to the people of Georgia.”

Some nations criticize the direct troop presence within Georgia, with some political opponents calling it “no better than Russia.” In recent interviews held with the public of Georgia, some Georgian civilians called it a “provocation” and "exaggeration” of what is currently happening within their nation. While some others are calling that side “Russian sympathizers” or “moles paid by the Russian government.”. The public outcry is currently unknown, but the US Secretary of Defense has repeatedly stated that they will not reverse this decision.

The largest number of US forces landed on the island of Evaron, mainly being the 3rd Infantry Division, 1st Battalion, Alpha Company, War Eagles. With a majority of those troops being support-oriented units, with only a platoon-sized infantry fighting force.

The US hopes this low-level response won’t be enough to provoke a larger response by the Russian military while also being large enough to support the Georgian Army in keeping the Russian-funded insurgency at bay.

The current Battalion Commander, Major John LaFlash, stationed on Everon, stated during a press interview, “Our mission is simple: we’re here to support the local populace with humanitarian missions, as well as keep those insurgents at bay. We have tightened our Rules of Engagement to the point where we hope to keep our troops out of combat and into a more police-type role. Our plans are not to become the new Governing body of the island; however, to give the current Government a helping hand that they so desperately need. A majority of my troops are, for that reason, support-oriented, a large portion of those being 88M, and 19D type elements. We’re not here to fight a war, but rather to keep the peace.”
