Today we celebrate 108 years since United States of America have entered World War I, known as well as "The Great War". On 6th April 1917, United States of America joined the war on Entente's side. The involvement of United States brought a major manpower and logistics to the Alliance, therefore bringing the war closer to an end.

The United States declared war on Germany in April 1917, the main reason beeing that Germany violated United States' neutrality by continously sinking U.S. ships trough submarine attacks. Adding the fact that Germany promised to help Mexico regain some of its territory lost to U.S. in previous conflicts, nearly seven decades before in the event of the United States entering the war, was a contributing factor. United States have entered the war as an "associated power", rather than a formal ally of France and the United Kingdom, in order to avoid "foreign entanglements". Although the Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria severed relations with the United States, neither declared war, nor did Austria-Hungarian Empire.
